Originally by: Kerfira Some more stuff about how ethical the EU "Labour Market" is.
I am sorry, however, I must speak up here. Firstly, your assertions are not entirely true across the board. The relations between Union/Employers/Goverment is not the yard stick for policy you claim it to be in all of the EU. Most notibly, I think you will find this an entirely unacurate way to describe the UK labour market.
Secondly, your allusion to the EU being more "ethical" when it comes to labour policy is, in my view, insane. You cannot describe transnational corporations as ethical, in any sense, no matter how well you think your ever weakend (thanks to the EU) trade unions protect you. Bottom line is, welfare states do not equal socialism. The relationship between employee and employer is ever the same in all capitalist countries. The business desires to give you the bare minimum possible to keep you alive and to replicate the work force, in way of maximizing profits.
Then there is the way "EU" companies treat workers abroad, and people in general. Shell Oil anyone? The Nigerian oil delta? Really, there are probably just as many cases of EU companies being unethical visa vis their employees and people in general as there are cases of American companies doing the same.
All of this is a round about way of saying, everything you mentioned is completely and totally irrelevant to the issue at hand--what are the ethical implications of CCPs treatment of T20 given that he cheated to help his eve-friends.
And of course, *I* feel that your chest beating about Nordic countries is off-putting. The fact is that there is no real ontology to any nation, or system of laws, under a capitalist system that makes the kinder gentler oppressor "better." Plus, I'd even challenge the notion the EU represents some sort of kinder and gentler oppresion than the US. That is a story you tell yourself so you can sleep better at night.
But, hey, who am I? I'm just a good old fashioned communist, so pay me no mind.
